Trend Tracker

According to paint sales and design professionals around the country, color is making a comeback. The past decade was dominated by white, off white, and beige. Now homeowners at the leading edge are embracing bold, rich, saturated color. To apply this color trend to your house all you need is the spirit of adventure. Think of selecting a different color for every room and celebrate the various tones in that color family with paint, wallpaper, upholstery fabric, window treatments, and carpeting. Use fruits and veggies for inspiration. Add tangerine to your kitchen, lime in the kids' room, eggplant in the dining room and cranberry in the bedroom. Take a cue from the flowers of spring for your next painting project: daffodil, iris, tiger lily, grass green. Or how about the earthy tones of autumn leaves: yellow-gold, russet red, pumpkin orange. There are no rigid rules, just have fun and choose the colors that make you feel good.

The hottest colors at the esteemed Home Furnishings design show in High Point, North Carolina: Robin's Egg Blue and Wasabi Green.
