Digital Heads Up New Interactive Do-It-Yourself Home Improvement Web
Site
TUCSON, Ariz. - DIYonline.com announced today that
Michael H. Heisler will serve as President and Chief Operating Officer
for the company. DIYonline.com is a new Tucson-based Web company founded
to give consumers the ability to custom design and plan Do-It-Yourself
projects online. Heisler, who most recently served as President of North
American Digital, a Tucson-based supplier of computer hardware and design
software to the home center market, will lead an initial team of more
than 40 personnel from its corporate offices with additional hiring
planned throughout the year. The company also established a sales and
marketing office in Lexington, KY.
"I'm very excited about our new Web site which we
will introduce to the market in the spring of 2000," said Heisler. "We
are confident we offer the most valuable Web site to the more than 128
million proclaimed Do-It-Yourselfers. Our site is extremely interactive
and provides a Web-based Do-It-Yourself network, which allows users to
plan, design and ultimately purchase all components and tools necessary
to complete their dream projects. Our business plan allows us to capitalize
on the $170 billion home-improvement market while providing consumers
with a project-based, DIY community. We are the leading Web site for
the home-improvement industry."
About DIYonline.com
According to Heisler, the company's initial market
survey was recently completed, resulting in positive reviews from leaders
in the home-improvement industry. The company implemented a prototype
program with Orbit Irrigation Products, Inc., the leading manufacturer
and distributor of lawn and garden products.
"We tested our proprietary tools and simulated the
future DIYonline.com consumer experience through Orbit's own Web site:
www.orbitonline.com. We offered a Do-It-Yourself sprinkler design project
and then tracked the number of sprinkler design downloads, and subsequent
purchases of Orbit sprinkler system products. We documented a user satisfaction
rate of over 90 percent," said Heisler.
According to Orbit Irrigation's Vice President, Michael
Ericksen, by participating with DIYonline.com for the pilot program,
Orbit is able to give consumers the latest in technology and information
to make the sprinkler design project easy to install, while also increasing
its customer market share.
"The results we've had from using DIYonline.com's tools
are nothing short of phenomenal. Based on the results from the test,
and the positive feedback we've received from our customers, I'm confident
DIYonline.com will revolutionize the home-improvement industry. We are
excited to have the opportunity to partner with DIYonline.com," said
Ericksen.
